The ‘Adelaide Connected’ program, powered by the Committee for Adelaide, launch Podcast series aimed at attracting talent here to South Australia

Adelaide Connected, a program powered by the Committee for Adelaide, has launched a series of podcasts, showcasing talented individuals who have chosen South Australia as a place to live and work. The podcast features international and interstate migrants (Arrows), and people who have recently returned to South Australia (Boomerangs), as they discuss their move and share their ideas about what we can do to continue to attract talent and help address our skills shortages.

CEO, Bruce Djite says “With more people realising all that Adelaide and South Australia has to offer, there has never been a more imperative time for the Committee for Adelaide’s, Adelaide Connected program. Our podcasts are an important story telling platform that further elevates Adelaide and South Australia to a broader national and international audience. We envisage the trend of people moving here will continue and could well accelerate, especially as additional high-quality jobs are created and the war for talent intensifies, coupled with the easing of international border restrictions.

“There is so much untapped potential in South Australia and therefore, there is much more work that we need to do if we are to ensure the state fulfils its undoubted potential. We are striving to make Greater Adelaide the most vibrant, inclusive and liveable global city by 2030 and we need the right talent here if we are to reach this goal”.

The Podcast series features Ben Mellows, founder of Polka who has returned to South Australia after a decade in New South Wales, to launch his start-up here from Adelaide. He shares insights into his time abroad and why South Australia is a great place for entrepreneurship.

Arrows, Tyson Gundersen and Adam Morgan grew up along the eastern seaboard and ventured abroad to the UK, but chose South Australia as their home to launch and scale start-ups, such as Bureau Booths and Task Pod.

For Tyson, “It came down to Adelaide or Amsterdam, and I’m glad I chose Adelaide to be closer to family, the lifestyle here, but importantly for the opportunities here which are enormous”.
